Central Islanders get Ready to say HELLO to HULLO!

Exciting news for Central Vancouver Islanders–a new ferry called Hullo was recently announced. This fresh addition will provide central island residents with yet another convenient option for getting to and from Central Vancouver Island. The Vancouver Island Ferry company will be running the show and Hullo is set to launch late THIS summer. The foot passenger vessels will hold up to 354 passengers and make quick 70-minute crossings from Nanaimo to Downtown Vancouver. Hullo is planning to operate seven round trip sailings per day with schedules to be announced soon. They have mentioned that sailings will be timed to ensure island commuters can make it to their Downtown Vancouver offices in good time. This new addition to the transportation scene will create even more opportunities for island living with a bustling city worklife! So, mark your calendars folks, Hullo is about to make your commutes a whole lot easier! For residents of The Foothills, with just a 20-minute drive to the Nanaimo Port Authority Terminal and a 70-minute high speed ferry ride, you could find yourself in the heart of Downtown Vancouver. While we don’t have all of the information for Hullo just yet, we know that the trip will be 70minutes and that ticket prices are likely to fall somewhere between the other travel options mentioned above. The 20-minute options are particularly ideal for day trips, making it a quick and efficient option for central island residents to cross the strait. Of course, for some trips, vehicle transportation is essential, and BC ferries offers just that. Nanaimo is currently one of the fasting growing urban centres in Canada, and it’s no surprise that many people who say goodbye to Metro Vancouver every year, end up making their way toNanaimo. With the arrival of Hullo, this number is sure to continue growing! Whether you’re looking for a quick and efficient flight or a scenic ferry ride, the Central Island has your back when it comes to crossing the Strait.
